Spreading Peace One Project At A Time
Strengthening Family Bonds
The Pickens Peace Project provides a Strengthening Family Bonds program that works with the at-risk youth (ages 10 and up) of Cumberland County and their families
to increase family strengths, improve the child-parent relationship, enhance child development, and reduce the effects of family trauma. This program uses a research-informed approach that engages families, programs, and communities in building five key protective factors:
-
Parental resilience
-
Social connections
-
Knowledge of parenting and child development
-
Concrete support in times of need
-
Social and emotional competence of children
This program is 100% free to the youth and their families. The program cohorts meet for 10 meetings and will be led by experienced and trained facilitators. Due to Covid-19 sessions will be provided virtually. We will provide a tablet and meal vouchers along with the course materials.
